Xavier Naidoo is my most favorite German singer. I think he has a beautiful voice and the lyrics are beautiful... he isn't bad to look at either:)

He is born in Germany, actually only an hours away from my home town, but he has one parent from South Africa.

I didn't take as many pictures as I hoped to in Germany. One reason was the weather and then I just didn't think about taking pictures.
I was back and it felt all so normal, because it was all the places where I grew up; why take pictures?
Now I am back in Omaha and I am kicking myself for not having taken more pictures.
Does that make sense? Do you have pictures of the house you live in? Your parents live in? You grew up in? That is all so familiar because you know every corner, every room, ...

I went to visit my parents for two weeks and I wanted to take pictures of all the things I miss, but once I was back there, those things where so close and I didn't think of my camera.

Well, I guess, my memories are anyway so strong that I don't need pictures to remind me.

I did take some, and one of my favorites is the one above.
I found this sculpture in a town that I used to live in.
I think it is perfect reflection of myself: half German, half American.

Though Germany is my place of origin.

My home is here, my friends are here and my love is here.

NoBloPoMo!!

You probably wonder what that is NoBloPoMo.

It stands for National Blog posting Month and you can sign up for it, better sign your blog up for it and commit to writing a blog entry for every day in November.

I did that a few weeks back because I thought it would give my writing a little push and I liked the idea in general.

Now, I am having a problem! Martin, my husband surprised me with an early Christmas present and bought me an airplane ticket to visit my parents in Germany.

And I am SUPER EXCITED about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am actually flying next Wednesday, the 7th and will be gone for two weeks.
The problem is that my parents don't have internet and so I won't be able to post...

But the chance to go home and see my parents is to nice to miss!

Maybe I can find a figure out a way to get access to a computer from over there.

Tuebingen is about a 30 min drive from my little home town away and that it where I went to school.
Like I said, the Eberhard Karls Universitaet was founded in 1477.

I have even been on one of these boats. Every fraternity has one and it is a tradition to go out with beer and something to bbq...good times:)

Yes, I am back home in Omaha. I had a wonderful time in Germany, but for right now, I am just glad to be back. As you can see on the above posts, did I go on my daily garden walk to see what has "poked" its had out while I was gone.
The one flower, the snowdrop, needs some explaining. I know it from Germany and it normally grows in groups. I planted them last year, so hopefully, by next year, it will come back stronger and it bigger numbers. It is called Snowdrop or Galanthus, because it is usually the first flowers that shows itself after the winter, often still amongst the last bit of snow.
I love them, because they are the first sign if spring in Germany when everything else is still cold and grey. I have to dig out this other picture that I took in Germany if them last year...

Guten Tag aus Stuttgart

Meeting my brother tonight gives me the chance to use his computer to write a few lines. My parents have no computer and no internet access....that is different to say the least. I miss it more than my cell phone.

I took the train on Wednesday to go to my parents´house. We celebrated my Mom´s 71st birthday. It is good to be home. Good food and some time to recover from the long days at the CeBIT.
The weather sucks. It snowed today and my only work-out was snow-removel....not my favorite past time, but it helps to work off German cake.

I am planning on doing some more chores around my parents´house. They are getting to the point, where they need help and I am glad to be able to give it to them.

Like I said, tonight, I am having dinner with my brother Stephan and a friend. That has become a tradition and I am looking forward to it.

I love it here but I miss all of you back home. Especially, Mr. M and Mr. W.
I feel bad, because, I haven´t worked out in a while and my next race will be a disaster...

My last day at CeBIT

I am done. For me the CeBIT 2007 is over and I can jump and the train tomorrow and head down to see my parents.

This last week was quite the experience. So many people, so many hours of work, so much food, being soo tired and having countless blisters on my feet...

Took more pictures but once I get to the hotel, I am so tired that I just go to bed. I am hoping to find some WiFi, while I am at my parent's house, so I can write some more about my visit here in Germany.

I read y'all blogs and I miss you guys. I feel bad, because I haven't worked out in a while, but I guess earning money and possibly working on a career can't be underestimated:)

Well, I gotta go to sleep so I can haul my suitcases to the train station tomorrow.

I am double and tripple excited: I am in Germany, I will see my parents and my brother, it will be my Mom's birthday tomorrow and it's SPRING!!!

CeBIT, day 4

Greetings from Germany. Today is day four at the Computer show and I am tired!
The size of this show is hard to describe. We are one of 6000 from 77 counties. We are in hall 9. There are 26, or was is 36? I don't know. You find everything. From e-voting, to GPS system, to...
The shows is open every day from 9 am to 6 pm and after that we go out to dinner and make sure that the German beer is still meeting the quality requirements. So far it is, but one has to keep working on it...

I haven't been working out, because, I am on my feet all day long, standing or walking and once I am done, I am BEAT!!

I wish, I could have a bike to get around here. I do look forward to going to see my parents this Wednesday and do NOTHING for few days:))

Gotta go for right now. My latte machiato arrived. Miss you guys!!

Wearing my favorite hat says it all where I am heading....HOME, even though I won't take it since I expect the weather to be too warm. But German weather is unpredictable. Well, in the worst case, I would have to buy a hat...

I am flying out tomorrow to go to Hannover, Germany, to go to a Computer Show. It should be interesting and it is a GREAT shop opportunity for me. Cross all your fingers for me.
Once I am done there. I will head down south to Stuttgart to visit with my parents for a week.
The only wish I have would be to be able to take Mr. M and Mr W. along but they have to stay her and hold the Fort down...

Back home

Back Home in Omaha. This isn't one of my pics buy it was taken here in the area on a frozen lake. When we came in tonight it didn't look very frozen outside. It looked as if everything was melting, very messy. From sunny CA to melting NE...it is still good to be home. Picked up Mr. W from the neighbors. He is tired. We guess, he played allot with his girl friend Daisy. We are all tired ans sore from skiing. There are quite a few muscles that one only uses when screaming down a hill on skis, especially, when those hills have "black" names...
My gold is still pretty bad. I guess, I have to take a time out tomorrow to get better.
If everything works out well, I will be flying to Deutschland on a business trip in March. And on preparation for that, I will need some training (loads of it) Wish me luck, this might me my career change that I was hoping for!! A job that would let me travel on business expenses to my home land and surprise my parents:)))

or Germany as you know it. This is picture Martin took in late November in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. It was a rainy day but what you see on the windows on the right are flowers still in bloom.
Well, I put a German picture on the blog today, because there might be a chance that I am going to Germany in March:)) Don't want to give away too may details but I wouldn't have to pay for the flight...
Went for a long ride on the Keystone today. Still too afraid to take my new road bike out in this weather. I know my Blur well enough to ride over smaller icy patches. I am amazed how well they keep the Keystone trail maintained. Yes it is cold out there, but you don't have to watch for anybody. I met one runner. That was it.
I worked out every day this week and I can feel it. I am sore...but I also feel a bit thinner, well, I am, the scale tells me the same. Great feeling. There is hope after all.
